Protest in front of Indian Embassy in US against CAA and NRC
Washington, Pret. People from the Indian community also demonstrated in front of the Indian Embassy in front of the statue of Mahatma Gandhi in the US, in protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and NRC. The protest was organized by the organization of Indian Muslims living in America.

Mike Ghose of the Center for Pluralism, an American-American American and Washington-based NGO, said they had gathered here only for the purpose of civil rights and religious freedom.

Speakers attending the rally on Sunday alleged that the government in India was working against the spirit of the Constitution.
Withdraw CAA and NRC from Government of India
The rally also passed a resolution demanding the Government of India to withdraw CAA and NRC.
Opposition targeted the PM Modi’s statement regarding NRC
The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), the Congress and the Left have targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s statement regarding the National Register of Citizens (NRC). In the public meeting of Ramlila Maidan in Delhi, PM Modi said that there has never been any discussion in his government on the implementation of NRC across the country. Surprising Prime Minister Modi’s statement on NRC, NCP chief Sharad Pawar said that whenever a big policy is brought, it is discussed at the government level. Such a policy is not suddenly presented to the country without discussion.
Amit Shah said in Parliament that NRC will be implemented across the country
Secondly, the country’s Home Minister Amit Shah had said in Parliament that NRC would be implemented across the country. Pawar further said that President Ram Nath Kovind had addressed the implementation of NRC across the country while addressing the joint session of Parliament. The President puts forward the policies of the government. Now the Prime Minister is saying that NRC has been implemented only in Assam and that too on the orders of the Supreme Court.
