Olympics 2021: Kiren Rijiju said – Tokyo will be the best performance ever

Hoping for the best performance from the Indian contingent at the Tokyo Olympics 2021,

which begins exactly a month later, Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju said efforts should be made to popularize Olympians 2021 like cricketers in the country.

Asked about his medal hope at the Tokyo Olympics,

the Sports Minister said he does not want to speculate but expects it to be his best performance ever

He said in an online press conference a month before the games starting July 23,

“India was not a superpower in any sport except cricket and five decades ago, hockey.

We are such a big country and there is no dearth of talent here but we don’t get many medals in Olympics.

“I am satisfied with the preparations for the Tokyo Olympics and the players have been given the best opportunities to prepare.

1100 crore has been spent under the Annual Practice and Competition Calendar (ACTC) in four years.

We are sending a big contingent with full preparation and hope that the performance will also be the best ever.

Ashish Choudhary, who qualified for the Tokyo Olympics-2021,

has fulfilled his late father’s dream of representing the country at the Olympics by defeating the Indonesian boxer 5-0 in the 75kg weight category last year.

When Ashish qualified for the Olympics in March 2020,

it was only a month since his father’s death. But Ashish did not let his spirits break

Ashish Chaudhary says that he will also fulfill his father’s second dream by bringing a medal for the country in the Olympics.

Ashish, who did his schooling from Sundernagar and graduated from MLSM College, is currently working in Dharampur as Tehsil Welfare Officer.

Born on July 8, 1994, in the house of late Bhagat Ram Dogra, Ashish Chaudhary wore boxing gloves in his hands at the age of 9.

He used to go to MLSM College for coaching under coach Naresh Verma.

Ashish Chowdhary is the first boxer from Himachal Pradesh, who will play in the Olympics.

Ashish Chaudhary has won gold medal in National Boxing Competition in the past, Silver in All India Inter University,

Bronze medal in Asia Test Event International Competition held in Indonesia.

Ashish also won bronze in the senior national boxing competition held at Army Sports Institute, Pune.

Along with this he has also participated in 21st International Boxing in Ukraine, 10th International Boxing in Russia,

Round Robin International Boxing Tournament, World Series of Boxing, India Open International competition.
