Sonu Nigam was born on 30 July 1973 in Faridabad, Haryana. His father Agam Kumar was a famous stage singer from Delhi. Sonu started doing stage shows with his father from the age of 3. It was under the guidance of his father that Sonu Nigam pursued his career. After Delhi, Sonu came to Mumbai and tried to make his career. Here too he had to pass through tough tests. Initially, Sonu Nigam proved his singing iron by participating in many shows. There came a time when Sonu Nigam was not being allowed to participate in any music show as a contestant because he used to win every time. After that Sonu Nigam was called as a judge or guest.
Sonu Nigam sang for the first time at the age of 18 for the film ‘Aaja Meri Jaan’. Unfortunately the film never got released and after this Sonu Nigam got a great opportunity to record a song for T-Series. This is how Sonu Nigam started his career with ‘Rafi Ki Yaadein’. After that he got immense success with the song ‘Accha sila diya tunne’ from the film Sanam Bewafa. After the film Sanam Bewafa, Sonu got many great offers and soon he became a well-known singer in Hindi cinema.
From the movie ‘Border’ come the message and by singing Yeh Dil Deewana of ‘Pardes’, he made a strong hold in the industry. Apart from Hindi, Sonu has spread his voice in all these languages Kannada, Oriya, Tamil, Assamese, Marathi, Punjabi, Malayalam, Telugu and Nepali. Apart from this, he has given his voice in Hollywood animated films ‘Alauddin’ and ‘Rio’.
The TV show ‘Sa Re Ga Ma’ also played a very important role in Sonu Nigam’s career. He was the host of this show. Sonu Nigam gave many great songs in his career. He has also won many awards for his singing. Sonu Nigam has received the Filmfare Award twice for the films ‘Saathiya’, ‘Kal Ho Na Ho’, apart from this he has also received the National Film Award for Best Playback Singer for ‘Kal Ho Na Ho’.
